In the heyday of the Republic of Venice, between 1400 and 1700, about 4000 villas were built in the hinterland of this seafaring power by the Venetian nobility and represented important agricultural, economic and cultural centers. Take a leap into the past and appreciate frescoes and works by famous artists such as Tiepolo or Palladio.
The Burchiello is a typical boat for river navigation. It runs through the Brenta river between Padua and Venice (arriving right by San Marco church!). It includes two stops to visit the splendid Villa Foscari known as La Malcontenta, Villa Widmann in Mira (we see an interior in the photo opposite) and Villa Pisani in Stra.
We include the visit of at least one Venetian Villa in our travel proposals:
- Padua and the Venice Lagoon
- Vicenza and Bassano
