Borghetto, Valeggio and Mincio river

The ruins of the Medieval bridge in Borghetto sul Mincio

Borghetto, Valeggio and Mincio river

Small romantic citadel, Borghetto is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. It rises on the Mincio river, where the ford was easier. It has ancient origins and was of strategic importance in the Middle Ages witnessed by the mighty Visconti bridge and the castle of nearby Valeggio.

Classic local dish is the famous Tortellini di Valeggio, to be tasted in a couple of recipes, or to be folded and closed during a simple cooking class.

Borghetto can be easily reached by bike on the Mincio cycle path, which starts from Peschiera and arrives in Mantua.
